7th Grade & Middle School Visual Arts

Sarah Hayward

Sarah came to RWS as an Early Childhood parent with a background in teaching in 2016. She immediately fell in love with the school and has fulfilled a wide variety of roles, including Aftercare and substitute teacher, Early Childhood assistant, and Dogwood class Lead. Sarah began yet another role in the 2022-2023 school year as 6th grade class teacher and plans to take them through 8th grade. With a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mary Washington and experience teaching public intermediate and secondary English and French, Sarah has a special affinity for working with pre-teens and adolescents.

She will complete her 3-year Waldorf Elementary Teacher certification training at Sunbridge Institute in Spring 2024. Here she’s been immersed in the incredibly rich terrain of Waldorf grades curriculum with its emphasis on building relationships (to one’s self and the outer world) through firsthand experiences, art, and storytelling.
