—Rudolf Steiner
Our 5th graders continued their Botany block last week! They went to RVA’s own gem, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, for a field trip and had a special guest and RWS parent, Megan Jones, join class and talk mushrooms! 🍄 Megan works for Fungi Perfecti (founded by Paul Stamets) and brought a wealth of knowledge and some cool mushrooms and goodies for the students. Later in the week, the class went wild foraging on campus and found many types of fungi and other specimens.
The last batch of 🍄 photos were taken by RWS Faculty & staff this weekend as they enjoyed their usual explorations in the streets and trails of RVA— 👀 look around and you may find some too!
The 5th graders will depart Monday for a few days of experiential learning at Spikenard Bee Sanctuary in Floyd, VA. We are so excited for them and can’t wait to hear all about it! 🐝 🌸

After reading Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” the 8th grade class took a field trip to the world’s only re-creation of Shakespeare’s indoor theater, the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Playhouse in Stanton, VA. Following the performance, the class had a backstage tour, spent time front and center on stage, and learned about the Shakespearean elements of a play. #🎭 #waldorfeducation #waldorfmiddleschool #fieldtrips #experientiallearning Thank you, @kimboos03 📸 for the field trip photos!
