Kara Harris
Dogwood Class Lead
Kara Harris (pronounced: Care-Uh Hare-Is)
She/Her
Kara has worked at Richmond Waldorf School as the Dogwood Lead since 2022. She first came to RWS as an assistant teacher for our Summer Garden Program for a few weeks. She holds a bachelor’s degree in 2-dimensional Studio Arts from Radford University and her Waldorf Early Childhood Education Certification from the Rudolf Steiner Center of Toronto (now Rudolf Steiner College of Toronto).
Kara has worked in a variety of educational environments. She’s worked at the Charlottesville Waldorf School as an early childhood morning assistant and as an early childhood Nap Teacher/Aftercare Teacher. She also spent some time teaching at the Richmond Public Schools as a reading tutor and at a private daycare as a lead teacher.
Kara is drawn to Waldorf Education for the magic it holds in its teaching for all ages. Outside of teaching, Kara enjoys snuggling her fur babies (2 cats), spending time by the river, enjoying the music scene, playing D&D, and being silly with her partner, Michael.
