Ashton Cumpston
Aftercare Assistant
Ashton graduated in May of 2026 from Virginia Commonwealth University with his Bachelor in Fine Arts, with a focus on Art Education. He has always been passionate about visual art, and found a love for education while observing his high school art teacher and seeing her willingness to help others. While completing his student teaching internship in 2025, Ashton started substituting at RWS in order to further his journey into education.
Ashton believes the most engaging part about education is community building! He enjoys art because of its storytelling, and approaches teaching with the idea that we can become better people by learning from others and therefore learning more about ourselves. When not in the classroom, Ashton enjoys gardening, painting, reading, working at farmer’s markets, and being with his cat, Chowder!
